It’s important to first review “tips for searching” below to familiarize yourself with our search engine.
Here’s an example. Let’s say you’re looking for a book but only know a few of the words in the title. The title of the book in our Library Catalog is St. Augustine : photographs in black. But you can only recall photograph and black. One quick way to narrow your search is to enter - photograph* AND black. Of the 26,600 plus records you will narrow your search to 5 results one of them being your book. Notice you did not use quotes but you did use an asterisk after the h then the connector AND between the words.
Here’s another. The Notices of East Florida / a facsim. reproduction of the 1822 ed. with introd. and index by George E. Buker is the title of the book in our Catalog. Whew! Who can remember that? But you do recall Notices of Florida. Enter – notices AND florida. Six results appear out of the 26,600 plus records; one of them being yours.
Here are some examples using the asterisk (*). If the complete spelling of the word is unknown enter - clem* when searching for clematis; photograph* when searching for photographs, photographical, or photographic; histor* when searching for histories, historical, historic, etc. Remember, you can always use an AND connector between words, just make sure you use spaces between the word(s) and the connector.
