ACQUISITION: Donated to the St. Augustine Historical Society.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: This collection compromises the handwritten original copy for Sgt. George Brown book about Florida. He arrived at Fort Marion in 1885 in order to take charge of it. "...began interpreting history of the Castillo to visitors at the turn of the century... his torch as he led the way into the dungeon, lighted the Castillo story in dramatic fashion for thousands of people." (Taken from the St. Augustine Record, 1950)
