Title Proposed National Park at Anastasia Island 1940-1942
Object Name Manuscript
Collection Manuscript Collection
Scope & Content ACQUISITION: Donated by Pat Griffin in January, 1996.

SCOPE & CONTENT NOTE: The attached materials came into possession of John and Pat Griffin (island residents) some time in the 1980's. Grace Weff, widow of Bill Weff, Island property owner, who led the fight against the bill to establish the National Park, telephoned to ask us to visit. On that visit she gave us the documentation, asking us to keep it so that we could write it up in a proposed history of the island or, failing that, to see that it was placed in proper hands. Discovered in a back file in December 1995 it is hereby deposited with the St. Augustine Historical Society Archive Research Library.

IMPORTANT NOTE: (Grace Weff told us that Bill Weff lived to regret his opposition to the park as he saw the haphazard growth that took place in the decades after 1940.)
