BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Jose' (Pepino) Peso de Burgo was the son of Pedro Peso de Burgo & Maria Geromima Camogina. Born in Corsiga, the family name was originally spelled Pozzo Di Borgo.

He and Francisco Pellicer bought the Saint George Street property, block 7, lot 7, ( a duplex at 55 St. George), in 05/1780. Peso de Burgo worked as a hide dealer and storekeeper. He married Maria McBride, daughter of Nicolas McBridi [McBride] & Maria Costa, in 1789. They had five Children.

The Spanish Census of 1783: 10c) lists Pesode Burgo as follows: "Corsica, Bachelor, Hide Dealer, 1 acres, house with grounds near Minorcan Chapel -- 3 slaves and 2 horses, half a sloop, 6 acres close to cemetery (Campo Santo).

Jose (Pepino) Peso de Burgo died in 1819. At the time of his death he owned the following property (Peso de Burgo 1819):
* A house where he lives, 2 story stone, bounded by Calle San Carlos on the east, north by house & lot of Francisco X. Sanchex, south by house & lot of Juan Andreu; another on the same street, bounded north by heirs of Mateo Guadarrama and south by house & lot of Antonio Meir.
* Another on Cuna Street/ norh boundary, west by house & lot of heirs of Estevan Benet, south by lot of heirs of Guillermo McHenry, east by lot of heirs of Jose Buchany.
* Another on the street that goes to the Quarteles, which is the north boundary, south by lot of Miguel Crosby, east by Geromino Alvarez and west by "la cienega.
* also plantages, etc. and a lot on Hospital with an orange grove bounded on the north by the house & lot of the heirs of Bernardo Segui and south by the heirs of Andres Ximines; another lot in Fernandina; 15 Negroes, etc.
